Staurakios

Staurakios (AD 795 – 812). co-emperor (r. 811–813). Son of Michael I and Prokopia; died before father's abdication. The third child of the imperial couple, he was named for his maternal uncle, the emperor Staurakios. His father, moving quickly to entrench the new dynasty, had him crowned co-emperor in the Hagia Sophia on Christmas Day 811 — alongside his brother Theophylact, according to the hagiography of Patriarch Ignatius. Of the rest of his short life nothing is recorded; he died in circumstances unknown.
