Portrait of Elisabeth of Bohemia

Elisabeth of Bohemia, also called Elisabeth of Luxembourg, was a daughter of the emperor Charles IV and Anne of Schweidnitz, born in 1358 and named after her grandmother, Elisabeth of Bohemia. Her full brother was Wenceslaus, later King of the Romans. Through her father’s last marriage, to Elizabeth of Pomerania, she gained six younger half-siblings, among them the emperor Sigismund and Anne, who became queen of England.

In 1366, when she was only eight, she was married to Albert III, Duke of Austria. They had no children, and she died in 1373 at the age of fifteen. She was buried with Albert’s parents at Gaming Charterhouse in Lower Austria. Albert later married Beatrix of Nuremberg, and their son became Albert IV, Duke of Austria.
