Circe, daughter of Helios, is the great sorceress of the island of Aeaea, mistress of potions, herbs, and transformation. When Odysseus's crew came to her hall she turned them into swine with a touch of her wand, but the hero — armed with the herb moly — won them back, and she became his host and guide for a year. their mother is the Oceanid Perseis, who is not seated in this archive
