Pasiphae, daughter of the Sun, became queen of Crete as the wife of Minos, and like her sister Circe she knew the arts of enchantment. When Poseidon cursed her with love for the Cretan Bull after Minos withheld its sacrifice, she bore the Minotaur — the bull-headed child for whom Daedalus built the Labyrinth. their mother is the Oceanid Perseis, who is not seated in this archive
