Torch-bearing Hecate, only child of Perses and Asteria, presides over magic, crossroads, keys, and the thresholds between worlds, often walking with her hounds at night. Hesiod sets her apart from every other Titan-born deity: Zeus honoured her above all, letting her keep her ancient shares of earth, sea, and sky.
