Son of Ares and Aphrodite, Phobos embodies the panic that breaks an army's nerve and turns a battle line into a stampede. He rides at his father's side into the press of war, and soldiers carved his staring face onto shields — Agamemnon's among them — hoping to lend their enemies the terror he carries.
