Youngest of the six, Zeus alone escaped his father's throat: Rhea handed Cronus a stone wrapped in swaddling bands and hid the true child in a cave on Crete. Grown, he tricked the old king into disgorging the stone and his five siblings, led them to victory over the Titans, and took the sky and the thunderbolt as his own, ruling from Olympus as king of gods and mortals.
