Dionysus
Generation IX · Wine, ecstasy, the vine
Twice-born god of the vine: rescued from his mother Semele's burning and sewn into Zeus's thigh until his time came, Dionysus is the only Olympian born of a mortal woman, and he holds the twelfth seat. He roams the world with his train of maenads and satyrs, bringing wine, ecstatic release, and the theatre — and a terrible madness to those, like King Pentheus, who deny him.
