Clio
Generation VI · History
One of the nine daughters born to Zeus and Mnemosyne, Clio is the Muse of history, the 'proclaimer' who keeps the deeds of men and cities from sinking into forgetfulness. Fittingly a child of Memory herself, she is pictured with an open scroll or a chest of books, and historians from Herodotus onward have written, knowingly or not, under her patronage.
