Generation V · Wide-ruling pastures of the sea

The 'wide-ruling' Oceanid, third of Zeus's early consorts, who bore him the three Charites, the Graces who lend charm to every feast and festival. She has a tender place in the story of Hephaestus too: when Hera flung the lame smith-god from Olympus, Eurynome and Thetis caught him in the sea and hid him for nine years while he learned his craft. An old Arcadian cult even pictured her as a woman above and fish below, a goddess half of the deep.
