Generation V · Renown; nymph of the western sky

An Oceanid whose name speaks of fame, carried up from her father's stream to marry the Titan Iapetus. She bore him four sons on whom much of the human story turns: sky-bearing Atlas, Prometheus the fire-thief and friend of mortals, heedless Epimetheus, and doomed Menoetius. Through Prometheus's son Deucalion, survivor of the great flood, she stands near the head of humankind's own family tree.
