Oizys is misery — the dull, grinding weight of hardship, pain, and distress. She has almost no stories of her own, which somehow suits her; Hesiod simply sets 'painful Oizys' among the brood that Night bore without any father. Hesiod is explicit that Nyx bore this child alone, without any father.
