Generation IV · Lightning, the divine forge
'Lightning-flash,' second of Hesiod's three Cyclopes, brother to Brontes and Arges and like them a master smith with one eye set in his forehead. Released from the dark of Tartarus by Zeus, he worked beside his brothers to forge the thunderbolt, the flash to Brontes' roar. Later poets set the trio to work under Hephaestus beneath the volcanoes of Sicily.
